Laura Kathleen Volack, 52, a resident of Luzerne, passed away on Friday, July 04, 2014, at Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown, surrounded and supported by her loving family.
Her loving husband is Marc Volack. Marc and Laura were united in marriage in 1997 in Wilkes-Barre and together shared 17 happy years.
Born on June 19, 1962, in Renton, Washington, Laura was the daughter of Kathleen (Hislop) Boyd, of Seattle, Washington.
Laura grew up in Washington State until the age of 16 when she and her family moved to Pennsylvania. Laura was a graduate of Tunkhannock Area High School, Class of 1980.
For several years, Laura was employed by Gerrity’s Market, Luzerne, in their meat department and front end office. She most recently worked in the front end department of Price Chopper, Wilkes-Barre, for one year prior to her illness.
Laura was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish, Luzerne.
Laura enjoyed watching her son Marc play Little League, where she was a team dugout mom.
Every Christmas, she would spend weeks mixing, making and baking Christmas cookies and breads that she would give to her family and friends. Laura always made sure that her children received their favorite cookies every year!
Laura loved her family, music and was an avid reader of books of any kind. She will be remembered by her family as a warrior who fought valiantly for the past year and a half.
In addition to her husband, Marc and her mother, Kathleen, Laura is survived by her sons, Marc Volack, Luzerne; Michael Simon, Austin, Texas; and Christine Caviston, Shavertown; her sisters, Bridgette (Kenneth) Livezey, Dallas; Tammy (Raymond) Jones, Falls; and Jennifer (John) Wales, Maple Valley, Washington; her grandchildren, Kenidee Bellio and Joshua Bellio, Shavertown; her nieces and nephews, Cassidy Jones, Miranda Jones, Ryan Wales and Casey Jordan Wales; as well as a host of other relatives.
Laura is reunited with her infant son, Johnathan Jacob Simon, who preceded her in death.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Blessing Service which will be celebrated on Monday, July 07, 2014 at 7:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with Monsignor John J. Sempa, pastor of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston, officiating.
