Kristen L. Curry, 35, a resident of Plains Township, passed into eternal life, surrounded by her loved ones, on Wednesday evening, March 29, 2023, at Allied Services Hospice, Wilkes-Barre, following a courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.
Her loving fiancé is Eric Jones. Eric and Kristen were blessed to share the last 10 years together, and they have been happily engaged since December 24, 2022.
Born on July 29, 1987, in Kingston, Kristen was one of two children born to William J. Curry and Diana C. Dudek Curry, of Exeter.
Raised in Wilkes-Barre, Kristen attended the former Sacred Heart Grade School, Wilkes-Barre, and was a graduate of the former James M. Coughlin High School, Class of 2005. Following high school, she went on to further her education at Wilkes University, where, in 2009, she acquired her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. Throughout her grade school, high school, and college years, Kristen was a cheerleader at each school she attended.
Kristen was employed for more than 10 years as a Denial and Appeal coordinator for Geisinger Health System.
Always drawing strength from her faith, Kristen was a longtime member of the former Sacred Heart Slovak Church, Wilkes-Barre. Additionally, she was a social member of the Polish American Club and the Italian American Citizens Club, both of Plains Township.
Kristen always had a great love for animals, and she absolutely adored her dog, Luna, and her lizard, Yoshi. She also enjoyed fishing with her Dad; traveling – especially to the beach (she loved the ocean); listening to music; and cheering on her beloved Philadelphia Eagles.
Above all, Kristen will be best remembered for the great love and devotion she had for her fiancé, her dad and mom, her brother, her extended family, and her friends. Her life was truly a blessing, and although she will be missed beyond measure, her memory will be cherished in the hearts of her loved ones until they are reunited with her in Heaven.
Kristen was welcomed to heaven by her maternal grandparents, Carl Dudek and Geraldine Minarik Dudek; and her paternal grandparents, William J. Curry Sr. and Rose Pointon Curry.
Left to cherish her memory, in addition to her parents, William and Diana Curry, and her fiancé, Eric Jones, are her brother, Christopher Curry, Exeter; her uncle, Jeff Dudek and his wife, Laura, Larksville; her aunt, Tina Karas, Forty Fort; her cousins, Sierra Dudek and Amber Dudek; her fiancé’s parents, Ernest and Donna Jones, Bear Creek; as well her many friends.
The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the oncology, radiology, and palliative care departments of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center’s Henry Cancer Institute for the outstanding care they provided Kristen. The family wishes to also thank the nurses and staff from Allied Services Hospice, Wilkes-Barre, for the compassionate care they bestowed upon Kristen during her final days.
