Kathi A. Hamilton, 68, a resident of Shavertown, passed into eternal life on Monday evening, January 23, 2023, at Guardian Healthcare, Taylor, where she was a guest since August 2021.
Her beloved husband was the late Robert Hamilton who passed away on August 14, 2003. At the time of Robert’s unexpected passing, he and Kathi shared 9 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on March 01, 1954, in Scranton, Kathi was one of two daughters born to Anne Moylan Price, of Carbondale, and the late Robert F. Price.
Raised in Carbondale, Kathi was a graduate of Carbondale Area High School, Class of 1972. Following high school, she went on attend Marywood University, then Marywood College, Scranton, where in 1976, she attained her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics. Later, she went back to attend Marywood University where she attained two Masters Degrees – one in Sports Nutrition, and the other in Education/Family Consumer Science.
A licensed insurance agent with Allstate for nearly 30 years, Kathi began her career with Allstate working in offices in Frackville and Wilkes-Barre Township. She then worked as an agent in Forty Fort, eventually establishing her own agency there and operating it until selling her agency in 2008. Shortly after that, she began a second career as a Family Consumer Science Teacher at Lake Lehman Junior-Senior High School, retiring from there in 2016. During her tenure at Lake Lehman Junior-Senior High School, she enjoyed being a mentor for its Junior Achievement Program.
Kathi had great faith and trust in her Lord and Savior. She was a past member of former Holy Name/Saint Mary’s Parish Community, Swoyersville and, following the consolidation of her church, was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Throughout her life, Kathi had a passion for traveling and she felt blessed to visit many places all over the world. It was on a fateful trip to England where she met and fell heads over heels for the love of her life, her husband, Robert, who was a native of Scotland.
Kathi was a steadfast advocate of exercise and her favorite exercise by far was going on walks with her much loved canine companion, Leo. She also loved cooking and baking from one of her countless cookbooks, and she always enjoyed entertaining her family and friends at her home.
Above all, Kathi’s greatest love in life was for her family and she cherished every moment she shared with her loved ones, most especially with her son, Rob – he was truly her pride and joy. Although her presence will be missed beyond measure, her legacy of love will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
In addition to her mother, Anne, Kathi is survived by her loving son, Robert P. Hamilton, Shavertown; her sister, Barbara Quinn and her husband, Larry, Carbondale; her nephew, Keefe Quinn and his wife, Ashley; her niece, Meghan Quinn Durkin and her husband, Mark; her great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, cousins, and many dear friends.
