Katherine T. “Katie” Olejnik, 92, of Swoyersville, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 29, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer. She passed with her loving family at her side.
Her beloved and caring husband is Joseph J. Olejnik. Joe and Katie would have celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on August 04, 2021.
Born on June 28, 1928, in Exeter, Katie was the 7th of 10 children born to the late John Krulick and Elizabeth Shoemaker Krulick.
Raised in Exeter, Katie was a graduate of the former Exeter High School, Class of 1946.
Katie was employed as a seamstress in the local garment industry, and she retired from the former Flory Fashions, Swoyersville, in 1990.
A faithful Catholic, Katie was a longtime member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville, where she was once a member of its Confraternity of Christian Mothers and adult choir. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Coming from a musical family, Katie was a talented singer, and she loved listening to and singing along with her favorite musical artist, Engelbert Humperdinck. She also enjoyed playing bingo and “the slots”, and was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Katie will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, John and Elizabeth Krulick, Katie was preceded in death by her brothers, Emery, Joz, Paul, and Jack Krulick; and her sisters, Mary Rowlands, Agatha Huntz Sherman, Elizabeth Ferrara, Jessie DeStefano, and Anne Lasky.
In addition to her husband, Joseph, Katie is survived by her three children, Mark Olejnik, JoAnn Guido, and Joseph K. Olejnik, all of Swoyersville; her grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Nicholas, and Kody Olejnik; as well as her several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The Oljenik family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Residential Hospice, Wilkes-Barre, for the special care they bestowed upon Katie during her time of need.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Friday, September 04, 2020, at 10:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and Friends are invited to attend Katie’s viewing which will be held on Thursday, September 03, 2020, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at the funeral home.
