Julia J. Artzus, 89, a resident of North Wilkes-Barre, entered into eternal rest on Monday morning, December 12, 2016, at the Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre, where she was recently a guest.
Her beloved husband was the late Anthony S. Artzus, who passed away on November 13, 2001.
Born on September 07, 1927, in White Haven, Julia was the daughter of the late Frank and Nellie (Kozloski) Baltuskonis.
Prior to her retirement, Julia was employed for many years by B.F. Goodrich, at their former plant in Exeter.
After retiring, Julia worked part-time as a housekeeper for her dear friend, the late Mary A. Harostock, and also for other local businesses.
A faithful Catholic, Julia was a longtime member of Saint Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, North Wilkes-Barre. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Andre Bessette Roman Catholic Parish, North Wilkes-Barre.
Julia was an active volunteer at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township, and was the recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for donating more than 4,000 hours in support of our local veterans.
Julia was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Plains American Legion, Joseph E. Conlon, Post 558, where she previously served as both historian and sergeant-in-arms. Additionally, she was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Marine Corps League, Miners Mills, and also a member of the Miners Mills Community Club.
In addition to her parents, Frank and Nellie Baltuskonis, and her husband, Anthony, Julia was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Thomas, and Chester Baltuskonis; her sisters, Mary Yenkowski and A. Jeanne Ostapak; her step-brother, Alex Harley; and also by two infant sisters.
Julia is survived by her loving daughter, Patricia A. Heckman and her husband, Dale, Yardley; her grandchildren, Stephen Heckman and his wife, Amanda; and Amy Weyna and her husband, Kenneth; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 8:30 AM, from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 AM in Saint Andre Bessette Parish, 672 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
