Josephine “Jody” M. Leshanski, 69, a resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, February 29, 2016, at her home.
Her beloved husband, the late Michael J. Leshanski, passed away on December 18, 2012. Michael and Jody shared over 40 wonderful years together.
Born on May 21, 1946, in Wilkes-Barre, Jody was the youngest of eight children born to the late Joseph and Mary (Serafin) Kuzma.
Raised in Swoyersville, Jody was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1964.
Jody went on to further her education at Wilkes-Barre Area Vo-Tech where she received her certification to be a Licensed Practical Nurse. Later, she went on to attend Luzerne County Community College, where she received her degree in Registered Nursing.
For over 20 years, Jody has been employed as a Registered Nurse for Allied Services – John Heinz Institute of Rehabilitation, Wilkes-Barre.
In addition to her parents, Joseph and Mary Kuzma, and her husband, Michael, Jody was preceded in death by her brother, John Kuzma; and her sister, Louise Lukachko.
Jody is survived by her daughters, Linda Howell and her husband, Jason, Trucksville; and Susan Lewis and her husband, Wayne, Falls; her grandchildren, Ryan, Jacob, and Emily; her great-grandson, Tanner; her brother, Bernard Kuzma and his wife, Yvonne; her sisters, Frances Poluske, Wyoming; Mary Jo Perrone, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Elizabeth Ondish, Catasauqua; and Alice Adamchick, Forty Fort; and her many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Saturday, March 05, 2016, at 10:15 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by an Office of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Saint Mary of the Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, 695 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Reverend John J. Cigan, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will privately take place in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, Dallas.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday, March 04, 2016, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
Parastas will be held on Friday at 4:00 PM with the Reverend John J. Cigan, officiating.
