Josephine A. Bavolek, 88, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Monday, January 29, 2018, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born on March 11, 1929, in Swoyersville, Josephine was one of seven children born to the late Michael and Mary (Depa) Bavolek.
Josephine was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School.
As a young woman, Josephine moved to Philadelphia, working for some years in the garment industry. She then began a career with Central Penn Bank, now Wells Fargo Bank, starting as a bank teller and eventually earning a position in the student loan division. Upon her retirement, she returned to her hometown of Swoyersville.
A faithful Catholic, Josephine was a lifelong member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Josephine greatly enjoyed taking walks around town and traveling with her brothers and sisters, and their families.
In addition to her parents, Michael and Mary Bavolek, Josephine was preceded in death by her brothers, Edward, Frank, and John; and her sisters, Helen Yablonski, Mary Baltusavich, and Cecelia Bavolek.
Josephine is survived by her loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, each of whom held a special place in Josephine’s heart.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Friday, February 02, 2018, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Rev. Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton.
Friends and family are invited to call on Friday morning, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM, at the funeral home.
