Joseph Sincavage, 86, a resident of Swoyersville, passed peacefully into eternal life on Tuesday evening, September 12, 2023, at Highland Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Exeter, where he was a guest since July of 2020.
Born on December 18, 1936, in Swoyersville, Joseph was one of five children born to the late William Sincavage and Stella Dziekan Sincavage.
Residing in Swoyersville most of his life, Joe attended the former Swoyersville High School.
Prior to his retirement, Joe was employed as a mason for Neal-Lynn Inc., Luzerne. In his earlier years, he worked as a laborer on the farm of Fred Wright, formerly located in Forty Fort.
Joe was a lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville, and, following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Well known for his love of vegetable gardening, Joe would start all his plants from seed and plant almost the entirety of his yard. Every year he would reap a bountiful harvest, always making sure to share that harvest with his family, friends, and neighbors.
A kind, caring, and selfless man, Joe freely gave of himself without ever asking for anything in return. As his mother was aging, he lovingly cared for her and ensured that her golden years were spent at home surrounded by the love of family. Joe was not only a devoted son, he was also a loving and supportive brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend. Although his presence will be greatly missed, there is joy in knowing he is now happily reunited in Heaven with his parents, his brother and sisters, and all his loved ones who were awaiting his arrival there.
In addition to his parents, William and Stella, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Sincavage; and his sisters, Barbara Crake and Alice Brek.
Joseph in survived by his brother, William “Bart” Sincavage Jr., Swoyersville; his brother-in-law, Daniel Brek Sr., Swoyersville; his sister-in-law, Barbara Sincavage, Exeter; as well as generations of nieces and nephews.
Joe’s family wishes to extend their most sincere gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Highland Manor Rehabilitation and Nursing Center for their years of wonderful care. They wish to also extend their gratitude to the nurses and staff from Compassionate Care Hospice, especially Pastor Dennis Gray, for all they did to ensure that Joe’s final days were peaceful.
In keeping with Joe’s wishes, a private family viewing and funeral service will be held on Saturday. A Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Father John J. Chmil, his Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
The Sincavage Family has entrusted the funeral arrangements for Joe to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
