Joseph L. Russo, 77, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Inpatient Unit, Dunmore.His beloved wife was the late Mary Teresa (Carfelo) Russo, who passed away in 2000.Born on June 01, 1937, in Pittston, Joseph was the son of the late Vito and Santa (Bartolotto) Russo.A United States Air Force veteran, Joseph honorably served his country during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge on September 05, 1957, he attained the rank of Airman 3rd Class.Prior to his retirement, Joseph was employed in the maintenance department of the United Methodist Homes, Wesley Village Campus, Pittston.Joseph was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville.In addition to his parents, Vito and Santa Russo, and his wife, Mary Teresa, Joseph was preceded in death by his brother, Benjamin Russo.Joseph is survived by his son, Joseph V. Russo and his wife, Elaine, Huntington, West Virginia; his daughters, Mary Russo, Duryea; Sarah Kuzynski and her husband, Robert, Pittston; Sandra Schwartz and her husband, Ronald, Jenkins Township; his grandchildren, Antonio Russo, Julia Slater, Ronald Schwartz, Emily Schwartz and Robert J. Kuzynski; his brother, Vito Russo, Pittston; his sisters, Sarah Russo, Pittston; Vita Russo, Dallas; Tina Hammil, West Pittston; and Catherine Lutecki, Pittston; numerous nieces and nephews.Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation which will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2015, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 23, 2015, at 10:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville.
