Joseph F. Symeon, 68, a resident of Wilkes-Barre, passed into eternal life unexpectedly on Friday evening, October 23, 2026, at Birchwood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Nanticoke, where he was a rehabilitation patient for the past three weeks.
Born on January 01, 1958, in Wilkes-Barre, Joseph was one of seven children born to the late Chester P. Symeon and Marie J. Miozza Symeon. Losing his father at an early age, he was deeply devoted to his mother, so it was fitting that he passed on the 18th anniversary of her passing.
A lifelong resident of the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre, Joseph attended G.A.R. Memorial High School, and was employed by InterMetro Industries, Wilkes-Barre, until his retirement. In previous years, he was employed by Sams Club, Wilkes-Barre.
Joseph will be best remembered for his side-splitting sense of humor, and especially for his ability to instantly create hilarious (and mostly obscene) song parodies. Finding joy in bringing laughter to others, his sense of humor mixed with his “larger-than-life” personality led many to tell him he missed his calling to be a professional comedian. His loved ones will forever hold the wonderful memories of his kindness, generosity and comical antics. His youngest brother, Jimmy, will miss their weekly Friday night visits to their favorite pizza place, Ricci’s Pizza.
In addition to his parents, Chester and Marie, Joseph was preceded in death by his infant sister, Marie Symeon.
Left to cherish his memory are his brothers and sisters, C.J. Symeon and his wife, Carol, Harding; Betty Jean “Beth” Sivick and her husband, Joe; Lisa Symeon and her partner, Shawn Sharksnas; Michael Symeon; and James Symeon, all of Wilkes-Barre; his six nephews, Brian Symeon and his wife, Tracy; Eric Symeon and his wife, Gina; Joseph Sivick; Jeffrey Sivick and his wife, Jessica; Michael Symeon and his wife, Kasey; and Jack Symeon; his four great-nieces; his aunt, Esther Hannon Saba; his best friend, Christopher Petroski; as well as generations of cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joseph’s services which will begin with viewing on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, and continue there on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 10:40 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in Saint Nicholas – Saint Mary’s Parish, 226 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hanover Township.
