John L. Levitski, 99, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, a resident of Forty Fort, passed into eternal life on Saturday morning, August 20, 2022, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, following a brief illness.
He was reunited in heaven with his loving wife of 76 years, Marie D. Sapack Levitski, who passed away on July 07, 2022.
Born on March 08, 1923, in Mocanaqua, John was one of four children born to the late George Levitski and Helen Zalewski Levitski.
Raised in the Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, John was a graduate of the former Plains Memorial High School, Class of 1941.
Prior to his retirement, John was employed as a heavy equipment parts sales manager for Stewart-Amos Equipment Company, formerly of Dupont.
John was a devout Catholic and a member of Holy Trinity Church, now Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, and throughout his life, he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and reading.
In addition to his parents, George and Helen, and his wife, Marie, John was preceded in death by his brothers, Frank and Paul Levitski; and his sister, Helen Klem.
John is survived by his children, Marie (Art) Baird, Shavertown; Janet (John) Bauman, Lehman Township; John M. (Kathy) Levitski, Virginia; Stephen Levitski, Maryland; and James Levitski, Kingston; his grandchildren, Jennifer Bauman (Seth Wilschutz); Laura Bauman (Alex Castro); Sarah Levitski; Jaime Levitski; and Kari Glosser; his great-grandchildren, Philippa Arden Wilschutz; Charlie Rose Castro; and Rory Joan Castro; his sisters-in-law, Shirley Levitski, Berwick, and Joan Sapack Zim, Swoyersville; as well as his numerous nieces and nephews.
The Levitski Family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the nurses, aides, and staff of the Wesley Village for the wonderful care they bestowed upon John during his short stay there. They also wish to thank the doctors and nurses from Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center for their exceptional care for John during his final days.
In keeping with John’s wishes, the viewing and funeral service were private. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Thursday in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. The Reverend Father Louis A. Grippe, officiated.
Interment with the Rite of Committal followed in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
