John L. Cooper, 90, a resident of West Wyoming, passed into eternal life on New Years Day, Monday, January 01, 2024.
His loving wife is Regina A. Wilchek Cooper. Together, John and Regina celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on September 13, 2023.
Born on February 28, 1933, in Larksville, John was one of three children born to the late John Cooper and Veronica Motyka Cooper.
Raised in Larksville, John was a graduate of the former Larksville High School, Class of 1951.
A United States Army veteran, John honorably served his country for two years during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge on March 03, 1955, he attained the rank of sergeant.
Prior to his retirement, John was employed by Cee-Kay’s Auto Parts, Kingston, for 17 years. Before that, he was employed for 35 years as a route salesman for Valley Vending, Wilkes-Barre.
John was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, and the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville.
In addition to his parents, John and Veronica, John was preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey M. Cooper, who passed away on November 28, 2021; his daughter-in-law, Caprice M. (Miletta) Cooper; his sister, Florence Shatkoski; and his brother, Walter Cooper.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Regina, and their sons, John F. Cooper and his wife, Takako, New Hampshire; and Brian C. Cooper, West Wyoming; his granddaughter, Aya Cooper; as well as his nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass which will be celebrated on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10:30 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville.
