John J. Vassello Jr., 64, a resident of Sugar Notch, passed into eternal life unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, May 30, 2018, at his home.
His loving wife is Ninette (Milici) Vassello. John and Ninette would have celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary on July 22nd.
Born on December 15, 1953, in Levittown, John was the son of John J. Vassello Sr., of Kingston, and the late Catherine (Spielmann) Vassello, who passed away in 1991.
John was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Plymouth.
John was currently employed as a security officer for Navient, Hanover Township. An entrepreneur at heart, John once owned and operated Papa V’s Pizza and Wings, and Casuals on the Creek Restaurant, and also managed many local bands.
An avid sports enthusiast, John played semi-professional baseball for some time, and was a fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, the Penn State Nittany Lions, and the Philadelphia Phillies. John was also actively involved with the sporting programs at Wyoming Valley West School District, coaching mini football, high school football, and wrestling. He also served for many years as the vice president for the Wyoming Valley West Booster Club.
John enjoyed playing the guitar, and was also an avid outdoorsman and hunter.
Above all, John greatest joy in life was spending time with his loving family. He will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his mother, Catherine Vassello, John was preceded in death by his brother, Andrew Vassello.
In addition to his father, John, and his wife, Ninette, John is survived by his sons, J.J. Vassello, Edwardsville; and Ryan Vassello and his wife, Casey; his granddaughters, Sophia Vassello and Giovanna Austin; his brothers, David Vassello and his wife, Sue, Downingtown; and Charles Vassello and his wife, June, Kingston; his sister, Cheryl Martinsky and her husband, Jim, Lehigh Valley; and his numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend John’s funeral service which will be celebrated on Sunday, June 03, 2018, at 6:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with Pastor Rocky Bonomo, Pastor of Sweet Valley Church of Christ, officiating.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM, at the funeral home.
