John J. Jagozinski, 93, a lifelong resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Tuesday evening, September 08, 2015, at the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, where he was recently a guest.
His loving wife is Josephine (Krenzel) Jagozinski. Together, John and Josephine celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on February 7th.
Born on February 06, 1922, in Swoyersville, John was the son of the late George and Victoria (Dzugan) Yagojinski.
A United States Coast Guard Veteran, John honorably served his country for four years during World War II.
A mason by trade, John was self-employed for many years prior to retiring. He was also a homebuilder in his earlier years, constructing several homes throughout the Wyoming Valley. He was especially proud of building his own home as well as both his son and daughter’s homes. John was known for being extremely talented and meticulous with his work.
John was a lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of his church, he became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville.
A proud veteran, John held life membership with the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville.
John enjoyed many things in life, especially hunting, fishing, cooking, gardening and reading. His greatest enjoyment by far was spending time with his beloved family. He will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
In addition to his parents, George and Victoria Yagojinski, John was preceded in death by his brothers, George Yagojinski, Frank Yagojinski, and Joseph Yagojinski, who passed away just five days prior on September 3rd; and his sisters, Mary Kislow and Sophie Burke.
In addition to his wife, Josephine, John is survived by his son, John Jagozinski and his wife, Jeanne, Swoyersville; his daughter, Barbara Morelli, Swoyersville; his grandchildren, Jennifer Campbell and her husband, Patrick; and Jonathan Jagozinski; his great-grandchildren, Olivia and Sarah Campbell; his sisters, Victoria Kopec and Helen Bobroski; and his numerous nieces and nephews.
The Family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the nurses and staff of Keystone Garden Estates, Larksville, and the Gino Merli Veterans Center, Scranton, for the attentive and compassionate care they bestowed upon John during his time of need.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at 10:00 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, his Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville, where Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Coast Guard.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Saturday morning, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM, at the funeral home.
