John H. Lewis, 81, a resident of West Wyoming, passed into eternal life, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday evening, June 13, 2023, at Tiffany Court of Kingston.
His loving wife is Mary Ann Adzema Lewis. John and Mary Ann were looking forward to celebrating their 62nd wedding anniversary on July 22nd.
Born on June 24, 1941, in Ashley, John was one of four children born to the late Samuel Lewis and Clara M. Johns Lewis.
Raised in Ashley, John attended the former Ashley High School.
In his earlier years, John was a carpenter with the Carpenters Union, Local 445, Scranton, with one of his major projects being to help with the construction the nuclear power plant in Berwick. In 1981, John changed career paths and established Lewis’ Trucking, West Wyoming, operating the company until his retirement in 2003 when he passed the reigns of the company onto his son, John.
John was a faithful member of Corpus Christi Parish, West Pittston.
A loving and devoted Husband, Dad, and Pop Pop, John treasured every moment he shared with his loved ones. Some of the most memorable moments he shared with his family were fishing and cruising on Harveys Lake in his pontoon boat, and watching the Sunday football games together. He and Mary Ann were blessed to share many happy years during their retirement, and they enjoyed the many cruises they went on throughout those years.
In addition to his parents, Samuel and Clara Lewis, John was preceded in death by his son, Christopher C. Lewis, who passed away on August 24, 1999; his sisters, Faith Lewis, Marlene Brandt, and Virginia Rauscher; his nephews, Brian King and Gerald King; and his nieces, Renee King and Darlene White.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Mary Ann; his children, John Lewis and his wife, Sherry; Jo Ann Rinehart and her husband, Rick; and Eric Lewis and his wife, Jennifer; his daughter-in-law, Kathy Lewis Selner and her husband, Craig; his eleven grandchildren, Jessica, Danielle, Kyle, Sam, Aubrey, Gracee, Nathan, Melanie, Jillian, Brittany, and Shelby; as well as his numerous nieces and nephews.
The Lewis family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff of both Tiffany Court at Kingston and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for the outstanding care they provided John during his time of need.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend John’s viewing which will be held on Sunday afternoon, June 18, 2023, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
