John E. DeBalko Sr., 83, a resident of West Wyoming, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, September 27, 2015, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
His wife of 26 years is Dolores (Repka) Cyprich DeBalko. His first wife of nearly 30 years was the late Gertrud (Surges) DeBalko, who passed away on April 06, 1988.
Born on November 29, 1931, in Wilkes-Barre, John was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Dudek) DeBalko.
Raised in Hazleton, John was a graduate of Hazle Township High School.
A United States Air Force veteran, John honorably served his country for four years during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, John was employed for 25 years by Tobyhanna Army Depot, working in the Redstone Arsenal’s Electronic Test and Measurement Department, and also in the Equipment Repair and Calibration Division.
John was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville.
In addition to his parents, Michael and Mary DeBalko, and his first wife, Gertrud, John was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald DeBalko, Harvey’s Lake.
In addition to his wife, Dolores, John is survived by his daughter, JoAnne Yuhas and her husband, Steven, Wilkes-Barre; his son, John E. DeBalko Jr., Wilkes-Barre; his step-daughter, Valerie Parsons and her husband, William, Shickshinny; his step-sons, John Cyprich and his wife, Christine, Huntington Mills; and Thomas Cyprich and his wife, Elizabeth, Wyoming; his brother, Gerald DeBalko and his wife, Debbie, Shingle Springs, California; his two grandchildren; his numerous step-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and his nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend John’s Blessing Service which will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at 7:00 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, Pastor of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, officiating.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, September 30th, from 5:00 PM until the time of the Blessing Service, at the funeral home.
A private burial service for the immediate family will be held in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Hanover Township, where Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Air Force.
