Joan Puhak, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away on Thursday afternoon, January 11, 2024.
The daughter of the late Attorney Andrew Puhak and Margaret Bankovich Puhak, Joan received her bachelor’s degree from College Misericordia, now Misericordia University, Dallas, and her master’s degree from Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre.
Joan was an elementary school teacher for the Wyoming Valley West School District, and a member of Saint Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Swoyersville.
Joan is survived by her sister, Natalie Puhak, Swoyersville, and her loving pets, Cloe, Blu, and Harley.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Joan’s Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy which will be celebrated on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 11:00 AM in Saint Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, 271 Tripp Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Father Andrii Dumnych, her Pastor, officiating. Her cousin, Brian Bankovich, will serve as Cantor.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
The viewing will be private for the immediate family.
