Joan L. Trosko, 83, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully late Friday evening, July 29, 2016, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice, Inpatient Unit, Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born on August 13, 1932, in Sandy Run, Pennsylvania, Joan was one of three children born to the late Alessandro and Clara (Zinanni) Ciaruffoli.
Raised in Swoyersville, Joan was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1950.
Prior to her retirement, Joan was employed for many years in the housekeeping department of the former Nesbitt Hospital, Kingston. Additionally, Joan was a talented seamstress, working part-time out of her home doing sewing, alterations, and making custom draperies for many people over the years.
Joan also was the owner of the former Alex’s Café which was located on Owen Street in Swoyersville.
Joan’s greatest love in life was for her family, and truly cherished every moment she spent with her children and grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for the great love and devotion she had for all her loved ones.
A woman of many enjoyments, Joan enjoyed baking; crocheting and crafting; and relaxing on her patio watching the birds. Joan always had a great love for animals, especially for her beloved dog, Daisy, and the many other dogs she had over the years.
Joan is survived by her children, Deborah Trosko, Luzerne; Sandy Trosko and his wife, Betsy, Swoyersville; and Joan Cunard and her husband, Paul, Hanover Township; her five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; her brother, Robert J. Ciaruffoli Sr., Larksville; her sister, Rena Gunkle, Morton, Pennsylvania; as well as her numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Wednesday, August 03, 2016, at 9:15 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, 420 Main Road, Buttonwood section of Hanover Township, with the Reverend Kevin P. Mulhern, Pastor, officiating.
