I lost a very great friend … we had spent so many years in our youth as inseparable companions learning about life together. The kind of friend you not only enjoyed the grand gallivanting with….but one who you also shared your trials and shared confusion in those years....when you are doing that growing up thing. That did not end when we went on our separate paths. We have had a lot of contact in the over the years, especially in the last decade. I would visit him and we would reminisce, share a meal and chuckles every time I went back to the valley. The last time I talked to him, I was dealing with the loss of my brother and my uncle who recently died within weeks of each other…we were on the phone for hours. He was a grand comfort as always. We ended the call with him saying “Please remember that you can call me anytime if you need to talk and get something off your chest”. Well... That door has closed. I could think of this as a loss and be in selfish sorrow and I have spent some time doing that… However, having a friend like him was a grand gift that not all have had… I was one of the lucky ones. That is something to celebrate. He loved to get into the woods... he really taught me to appreciate nature. (Also a grand gift!) I think he will like the tree donation. :) Rest in peace my friend Jerome…
