Janice Edwina Pero, 76, of Swoyersville, entered into eternal life early Saturday morning, October 26, 2024, surrounded by her loving husband and family at Allied Services Center City, Wilkes-Barre, following a brief illness.
Her loving husband is Anthony J. “Tony” Pero. Tony and Janice were looking forward to celebrating their 52nd wedding anniversary on November 11th.
Born on August 10, 1948, in Kingston, Janice was one of three daughters born to the late Edward Machinist and Matilda “Millie” Wickman Machinist.
Raised in Kingston, Janice was a graduate of the former Central Catholic High School, Class of 1967. Following in her mother’s footsteps by becoming a hairdresser, Janice went on to receive her cosmetology certification from Empire Beauty School. She then worked alongside her mother at their business, the former Millie’s Beauty Salon, Kingston, and also served as manager at the salon of Pomeroy’s Department Store.
By far, Janice’s greatest passion was building a life with her husband, Tony, and three children. Throughout their nearly 52 years of marriage, Janice and Tony were inseparable – whether it be watching the Phillies games, fishing, or traveling to NASCAR races, they truly loved spending time with one another. Her children may have been her pride and joy, but her grandchildren were her most cherished treasures and the light of her life – she was always there for them, never missing an important milestone, sporting event, or opportunity to spend quality time with them. Her abounding and unconditional love for her family will be her lasting legacy which will live on in the hearts, actions, and traditions of her loved ones forever.
Janice had a gift for making others feel beautiful, both inside and out. Living out her faith in her daily life, she never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand, share a kind word, or cook one of her delicious meals for her family and friends. A caregiver at heart, Janice went on to help many homebound members of her family and community, finding peace and joy in helping others maintain quality of life in their homes.
A woman of strong faith, Janice was a member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, and also held membership with the Confraternity of Christian Mothers at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
In addition to her parents, Edward and Millie Machinist, Janice was preceded in death by her sister, Lorraine Machinist-Bayer; and granddaughter, Arya.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tony, and their three children, Janicemarie Lipinski and her husband, Joseph; Anthony Pero and his wife, Krysta; and Jennifer Pero; five grandchildren, Abigail Pero; Joey, Nicholas, and Hazel Lipinski; and Anthonella Pero; and sister, Dianne Machinist; as well as their beloved pooch, Sprinkles. In addition, the community of friends, who she cherished as family, is too long to list. She loved and was loved by so many.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Janice’s viewing which will be held on Friday, November 01, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 02, 2024, at 10:00 AM in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, with Monsignor David L. Tressler, her Pastor, officiating. Friends are asked to assemble directly at the church as the family will have a private procession from the funeral home.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Ann’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Lehman Township.
