Janice Kiwak,72, of Swoyersville, passed away on Sunday, August 04, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 09, 1951, in Kingston, one of two children born to the late Joseph J. Kiwak and Irene Gongleski Kiwak. She lived a full life.
She is survived by her brother, J. Wayne Kiwak and his wife, Joanne, Downingtown and Celebration, Florida; her three nieces, Dr. Krystyna Chiccarine and her husband, Dr. Anthony Chiccarine, Ocean City, New Jersey; Dr. Nicole Nemeth and her husband, Derek Nemeth, Malvern; and Danielle Yatrakis Esq. and her husband, Christos Yatrakis Esq., Denver, Colorado; her ten great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as her loving cousins, Beth Bantel and Lori Bantel.
Janice spent decades teaching a variety of classes, first at Wyoming Seminary, then within the Nanticoke School District. While she taught a number of subjects, her avocation was art and art history. Jan’s life was characterized by her enthusiasm for experiences – she loved reminiscing on her travels, including trips to Mexico and England. She was an artist who embraced her life with creativity and originality. She served a memorable annual lobster dinner every Christmas, which was always a fun, humorous celebration with family.
Her nieces, great-nieces and great-nephews were the light of her life and she reveled in each of their accomplishments – she truly was a doting and loving aunt.
A woman of faith, Janice was a lifelong member of Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville and following its closure, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
