James “Jay” Newell, 73, a resident of Edwardsville, passed into eternal life on Thursday evening, February 16, 2017, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Born on September 09, 1943, in Kingston, James was one of three sons born to the late Francis J. Newell and Anna (Compers) Newell.
Jay was a graduate of the former Edwardsville High School, and he had resided in Edwardsville his entire life.
Prior to his retirement, Jay was employed for many years as a machine operator for the former Liberty Throwing Company, Kingston.
Jay’s favorite hobby in life was locksmithing, at which he was very skilled. He also enjoyed attending flea markets and yard sales, and spending time at his property in Wyoming County.
In addition to his parents, Francis and Anna Newell, Jay was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Newell and Francis M. Newell.
Jay is survived by his nephew, Francis “Fritz” Newell, Larksville; his niece, Debbie Austin, Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre; as well as his great-nieces and great-nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Jay’s Blessing Service which will be celebrated on Monday, February 20, 2017, at 10:00 AM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, pastor of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.
