Irene Hochreiter, 83, a resident of Forty Fort, passed into eternal life on Saturday morning, July 08, 2023, at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenberg, Bethlehem.
Her beloved husband was the late Frank Hochreiter, who passed away on September 26, 2000. Frank and Irene were blessed to shared 35 years of marriage.
Born on April 11, 1940, in Wilkes-Barre, Irene was one of four children born to the late Michael Litwin and Susan Dargoy Litwin.
Raised in Swoyersville and later in Forty Fort, Irene was a graduate of the former Forty Fort High School, Class of 1958.
Prior to her recent retirement, Irene was employed by Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, serving as its church secretary. In her earlier years, she was employed as a secretary for the former Planters Peanuts, Wilkes-Barre.
A devout Catholic and faithful member of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne, Irene not only served as the parish secretary, she was also an active member and officer of the parish’s Altar and Rosary Society. Throughout her years at Holy Family, she enjoyed planning and taking part in various events and fundraisers to benefit her parish community, and she cherished the many friendships she forged with her fellow parishioners through her involvement with the parish.
In addition to her parents, Michael and Susan Litwin, and her husband, Frank, Irene was preceded in death by her brothers, John Litwin and Michael Litwin; and her sister, Ann Multer.
Left to cherish Irene’s memory are her daughter, Susan Pellegrino and her husband, Jason, Bethlehem; as well as a niece, nephew, and a great-nephew.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, July 17, 2023, at 9:00 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 AM in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, with the Reverend Father David P. Cappelloni, V.F., family friend and Pastor of Ss. Anthony and Rocco Parish, Dunmore, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
Family and Friends are invited to Irene’s viewing which will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the funeral home.
