Irene B. Shemanski, 85, a resident of Wilkes-Barre Township, passed into eternal life on Friday afternoon, September 15, 2017, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice, Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Her beloved husband was the late Ralph M. Shemanski, who passed away on March 31, 1999.
Born on September 27, 1931, in Sugar Notch, Irene was the youngest of 10 children born to the late Adam and Frances (Goser) Ormanowski.
Raised in Sugar Notch, Irene was the valedictorian of her graduating class at the former Sugar Notch High School.
A faithful Catholic, Irene was a longtime member of the former Saint Joseph’s Monastery Church, Wilkes-Barre Township.
Irene is survived by her daughter, Cindy Mihoch, Forty Fort; and her granddaughter, Hilary Mihoch, Wyoming, and her fiancé, Josh Koslosky.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Tuesday, September 19, 2017, at 8:45 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:30 AM in All Saints Roman Catholic Parish, 66 Willow Street, Plymouth, with the Reverend Jacek J. Bialkowski, Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Adalbert’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Glen Lyon.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Monday, September 18, 2017, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, at the funeral home.
The family has kindly asked that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made in Irene’s memory to a charity of the donor’s choice.
