Helen E. Konon, 95, a resident of Edwardsville, passed into eternal life on Friday evening, December 12, 2025, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born on April 01, 1930, in Edwardsville, Helen was one of five children born to the late Peter Konon and Mary Phillips Konon. Raised in and residing in Edwardsville for most of her life, Helen was a graduate of the former Edwardsville High School, Class of 1947.
Prior to her retirement, Helen was employed for 32 years by the Social Security Administration at its office in Wilkes-Barre. Beginning there as a data entry clerk, she quickly rose to the managerial position of section manager due to her intelligence and was the recipient of numerous awards and citations from the Social Security Administration.
After retiring from Social Security, Helen went on to work for some years as an aide for the Wyoming Valley West School District.
A devout Catholic, Helen was a lifelong member of the former Saint Hedwig’s Church, Edwardsville. Due to the love of crafting she and her sister, Evelyn, shared, they provided countless handmade crafts for the church’s annual bazaar for several years. Following the closure of her church, she became a member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Church, Kingston.
In addition to her parents, Peter and Mary Konon, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Peter Konon Jr.; her sisters, Frances Walko, Dorothy Smith, and Evelyn Konon; and her nephews, Thomas Walko and Arthur Walko.
Left to cherish her memory are generations of nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a memorial visitation which will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, from 9:00 to 10:00 AM in Saint Ignatius Loyola Church, 339 North Maple Avenue, Kingston, where a Memorial Mass will commence at 10:00 AM.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Ignatius Loyola Cemetery, Pringle.
The family of Ms. Konon entrusted her arrangements to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
