Helen Bednar Oliveri, 81, a resident of Kingston, passed into eternal life on Friday morning, August 15, 2014, at Manorcare Health and Rehabilitation Center, Kingston, following a courageous battle with cancer.Her beloved husband was the late Alex Oliveri, who passed away on January 09, 1986.Born on October 10, 1932, in Swoyersville, Helen was the only daughter of the late Martin B. Bednar and Mary H. (Micholik) Bednar.Helen was raised in Swoyersville and was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1950. Following high school, she went on to further her education at College Misericordia, Dallas, where she acquired her Bachelor of Science Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science and Medical Technology in 1954.Prior to her retirement, Helen was employed for many years as a Microbiologist, and later, as the Microbiology Supervisor for the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and Wyoming Valley Healthcare System. Throughout her lengthy career, Helen maintained membership with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.Helen was a longtime member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church, Swoyersville. Following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Kingston.Helen is survived by her aunt, Alice Yurchision, Swoyersville; her uncle, Joseph Oleksy, Wilton, Connecticut; her five first cousins, Peter Yurchision, Alice Pualuan, Edward Oleksy, Alice Horahan and Elizabeth Bianco; as well as her other generations of cousins.Additionally, Helen is survived by her three step-children, Alex, Natalie and Carl; her brothers-in-law, Frank(Palmina) Oliveri; Stephen (Fern) Oliveri; her sisters-in-law, Mary Talarico and Jeanne Homick, both of Crystal Lake, Carbondale; and Louise Oliveri, Bronx, New York; her many nieces and nephews.Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Ignatius Loyola Church, 339 North Maple Avenue, Kingston.Interment will follow in Our Mother of Sorrows Roman Catholic Cemetery, Finch Hill section of Carbondale.Family and Friends are invited to call on Friday, August 22, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.For additional information or to send Helen’s Family an online message of condolence, you may visit the funeral home web-site www.wroblewskifuneralhome.com.In Lieu of Flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made in Helen’s memory to the Susan G.
