Helen A. Licata, 94, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Friday evening, May 06, 2022, at her home.
Her loving husband is Angelo J. Licata. Angelo and Helen would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on June 16th.
Born on February 21, 1928, in Swoyersville, Helen was one of seven children born to the late Michael and Anastasia (Kochinski) Volack.
A lifelong resident of Swoyersville, Helen was graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1945.
A homemaker most of life, Helen lovingly tended to the daily needs of her family.
Deeply rooted in her faith, Helen was a lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville, where she held membership with its Confraternity of Christian Mothers, and was a staple at its annual bazaar, working at the potato pancake stand every year. Following to the consolidation of her church, Helen became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. A daily communicant, Helen faithfully watched the daily Mass on EWTN.
A woman of many enjoyments, Helen enjoyed cooking and baking for her family, most especially at the holiday’s; traveling, which she and Angelo did extensively in their earlier years; and trying her luck at Bingo, with scratch-offs, and visits to casino’s. Above all, Helen’s greatest enjoyment in life was being surrounded by her loved ones. Although her presence will be missed beyond measure, she leaves behind her legacy of being a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
In addition to her parents, Michael and Anastasia Volack, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Volack; and her sisters, Theresa Volack, Norma Romanowski, and Rita Monto.
In addition to her husband, Angelo, Helen is survived by her three children, Frank Licata and his wife, Karen, Mountain Top; JoAnn Kolojejchick and her husband, Leonard, Gibbsboro, New Jersey; and Theresa Licata, Forty Fort, and her fiancé, Gregg Thomas, Mountain Top; her five granddaughters, Dr. Kerri (Jason) Mashburn, Arizona; Amy Licata, Harrisburg; Kylie (Matt) Smeltz, Herndon; Sara (Andrew) Rejmaniak, New Jersey; and Jill Kolojejchick, New Jersey; her three great-grandsons, Benjamin Mashburn; Tanner Smeltz; and Bronson Smeltz; her sisters, Martha Berti, Swoyersville; and Leona Romanowski, Sinking Spring; as well as her numerous nieces and nephews.
The Licata family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to Helen’s caregivers, Rebecca, Paige, Jodi, and Patrice, for all they did to assist Helen during her time of need. Also, a special thank you to her hairdresser and friend, Beverly Nixon, for always brightening Helen’s day.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Helen’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Friday, May 13, 2022, at 11:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Father Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
In keeping with Helen’s wishes, the viewing will be private for her family members.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
