Geraldine M. Janov, 85, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, August 23, 2015, at Saint Luke’s Villa Assisted Living Center, Wilkes-Barre, where she had recently been a guest.
Her beloved husband was the late Robert R. Janov, who passed away on February 11, 2010. Together, Robert and Geri shared 61 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on May 31, 1930, in Swoyersville, Geraldine was the daughter of the late Andrew and Mary (Kapral) Rusinko.
Raised in Swoyersville, Geri attended the former Swoyersville High School.
In the 1960’s, Geri was a self-employed beautician, owning and operating Geri’s Beauty Shop, Swoyersville. Geri then became employed by King Floral Company, Forty Fort, later known as Evans-King Floral, where she worked for 21 years.
A faithful Catholic, Geraldine was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish, Luzerne.
Geri, along with her husband, served with the Greater Wilkes-Barre Jaycees. Geri was also an avid fan of NASCAR.
In addition to her parents, Andrew and Mary Rusinko, and her husband, Robert, Geri was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Rusinko, and her sister, Carole Coats.
Geri is survived by her children, Karen Fedor and her husband John, Lehman Township; Nancy Janov, Tampa, Florida; Richard A. Janov, West Wyoming; Robert A. Janov and his wife Carla, Edwardsville; her grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jason, Jennifer, Aimee, Jessica, Jill, Tony and Andrea; her eleven great-grandchildren; as well as her numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at 10:30 AM in Holy Family Parish, 574 Bennett Street, Luzerne, with the Reverend Gerald Gurka, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint John’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Courtdale.
In keeping with Geri’s wishes, the viewing will private for her immediate family members.
