George Aed II, 67, a resident of Palatine, Illinois, fell asleep in the Lord unexpectedly on Thursday, December 29, 2016, at Northwest Community Hospital, Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Born on June 06, 1949, in Washington D.C., George was one of two sons born to the late Mitchell F. and Bertha (Drooby) Aed.
Raised in Washington D.C., George was a 1967 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, where he lettered in Varsity Track and Cross Country. Also, as a young man, he earned the distinction of attaining Eagle Scout.
Following high school, George went on to attend Purdue University, where in 1970 he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. While attaining his degree at Purdue University, he became a member of their ROTC Program, as well as a member of Phi Sigma Kappa Fraternity.
Upon graduation from Purdue University, George proudly served his county for seven years in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged at the rank of Captain.
Prior to his recent retirement, George worked as a successful salesman and owner of his recruitment business.
For over 30 years, George faithfully served the Lord at Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church, Palatine, Illinois.
When he was not volunteering his time within the community and helping various charities, he could be found Saturday’s on the golf course, at his favorite bar having a beer and cigar, or driving his Jeep whenever possible.
George is survived by his girlfriend, Kathy Dowdle, Palatine, Illinois; his sons, Michael Aed and his wife Yesenia, Fresno, California; and Jonathan Aed and his wife, Suzanne, Anaheim Hills, California; his brother, Michael Aed and his wife, Ann Marie, Forty Fort, Pennsylvania; his two nieces, Sarah and Michele Aed; and the most precious of all, his beloved grandchildren, Kai, Mason, Michael Jr, Natalia, Alejandro, and Brooklyn.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend George’s funeral service which will be celebrated on Friday, January 06, 2017, at 12:00 PM in Saint Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church, 905 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, with the Very Reverend David Hester, Pastor, officiating.
Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township, where Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the AMVETS Honor Guard of Greater Pittston.
Family and Friends are invited to call at Saint Mary’s Antiochian Orthodox Church on Friday morning, from 11:30 AM until 12:00 PM.
