Genevieve V. “Genny” Dotter, 91, a resident of Swoyersville, passed peacefully into eternal life on Saturday afternoon, October 03, 2026, at Edenbrook Second Avenue, Kingston, where she was a guest for the past month.
Her beloved husband of 35 years was the late Robert J. Dotter who passed away on April 14, 1992.
Born on August 17, 1935, in Swoyersville, Genny was one of two children born to the late John Kopetchny and Anna Kotasek Kopetchny.
Residing in Swoyersville most of her life, Genny was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1954.
Throughout her life, Genny worked as a home health aide, and in more recent years as a banquet waitress at the Amber Palace, George Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
A woman of strong faith, Genny was a lifelong member of the former Saint John Neopomucene Church, Luzerne, and, following its closure, became a member of Holy Trinity Church, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Genny had many enjoyments in life, especially cooking and baking for her family; playing cards; putting jigsaw puzzles together; and finding treasures at garage sales. Above all, family brought Genny the greatest joy and her loved ones were the most important part of her life – she lived for her husband, daughter, granddaughters and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, John and Anna Kopetchny, and her husband, Robert, Genny was sadly preceded in death by her only daughter, Lynn Ann Venetz, who passed away on January 27, 2011; and her companion of many years, William J. Pfingsten.
Left to cherish her memory are her granddaughters, Sarah Venetz Sterling and her companion, Brian James, Plymouth; and Roberta “Bobbie” Venetz Millard and her husband, Brett, Kingston; her dear friend, Missy Craig, Ashley, whom she considered a granddaughter; her six great-grandchildren; her brother, John “Butchie” Kopetchny, Wilkes-Barre; as well as her nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Genny’s services which will begin with viewing on Monday, October 12, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, and continue there on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Father John J. Chmil, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
