my sincere condolences to the family. sorry I cannot attend the services. I am very glad I got to see her last week when she could still respond and I got to thank her for everything and how much she meant to my family.. my service dog even went up and nudged her hand and she even got to pet him..at that point she opened her eyes and became fully alert...I got to talk to her about her comfort.. she squeezed my hand once for yes and twice for no.. she needed to be repositioned...the buzzer out of her reach..i gave her something to drink out of a straw.. asked if she was in pain.. she squeezed once very tightly... got the nurse who came in with the morphine drops...her breathing became less labored. and constant coughing went away.. asked nurse about how many times a day she gets drops... found out wasn't a regular thing.. patients ask for it. if u have a relative in this situation...PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT!!they cant do it themselves...make them as comfortable as possible. ive seen this happen too many times.. some people may call it a death rattle... they are aware..gen sure was...nurses judge pain by the 10 faces im sure u have seen...most elderly persons have the same face... im between a 7 and 9 all the time yet u cant tell by my face.... u know ur relative they dont..this may just help someone even urself.. gen was my godmothers best friend...marie baloga...she made sure she had her meals as she became blind and bed ridden.. a friendship that lasted decades.. im sure right now they are having one big party! i will miss u alot gen i love u jackie xoxox
