Genevieve D. Kotasek, 92, a resident of West Wyoming, entered into eternal life early Saturday morning, January 23, 2016, at Celtic Healthcare Hospice, Inpatient Unit at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born on July 21, 1923, in Luzerne, Genevieve was one of four children born to the late Frank and Genevieve (Seitchek) Kotasek.
Genevieve was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1942.
Prior to her retirement in 1979, Genevieve was employed for many years as a key punch operator for the Social Security Administration, Wilkes-Barre.
A faithful Catholic, Genevieve was a member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish, Luzerne.
Genevieve had a passion for traveling and was fortunate to visit many places over the years. She loved going to various casinos and her favorite place to visit was Las Vegas.
Family was the center of Genevieve’s life and she treasured every moment she had with her loved ones. Not only was she a devoted daughter and sister, she was also a loving and caring aunt to her many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews. Throughout her life, Genevieve had given much love and attention to her family, and in return they showered her with their love. Her beautiful presence will be greatly missed by all those who were dear to her.
In addition to her parents, Frank and Genevieve Kotasek, Genevieve was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Kotasek; and her sister, Mary Rowett.
Genevieve is survived by her sister, Anna Kopetchny, Wilkes-Barre; as well as her many nieces, nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to offer their most sincere thanks to the Baloga and Fetch families for being so very kind and caring to Genevieve over the years.
At Genevieve’s request, a private family viewing and funeral service will be held. A Blessing Service will be celebrated by Deacon Peter Smith, Parish Life Coordinator of Holy Family Parish, Luzerne.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville, where she will be laid to rest beside her mother and father.
