Frank A. “Butch” Kohut, 65, formerly of Pittston, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday morning, May 29, 2024, at Mountain View Care Center, Scranton, where he was recently a guest.
Born on March 03, 1959, in Pittston, Frank was one of two children born to the late Frank Kohut and Christine E. Brooks Kohut.
Residing in Pittston most of his life, Butch was a graduate of Pittston Area High School, Class of 1977, where he was a standout member of its basketball team. Following high school, he went on to further his education at Luzerne County Community College, Nanticoke.
Butch was a member of Saint Joseph Marello Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Pittston.
A diehard fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Pittsburgh Steelers, Butch also enjoyed the trips he took to Las Vegas, Nevada; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Atlantic City, New Jersey with his sister, Linda.
Butch was a kind hearted, happy person who always found the good in others and had the gift of being able to strike up a conversation with anyone. He also had a great love for animals, holding a special bond with each dog and cat he had throughout his life.
Although his presence will be deeply missed, there is joy in knowing he is now free; wrapped peacefully in the arms of his Lord and Saviour, and joyfully reunited with his mother, father, sister, and all his loved ones who were awaiting his arrival there.
In addition to his parents, Frank and Christine, Butch was preceded in death by his beloved sister and caregiver, Linda L. Kohut, who passed away on August 19, 2018.
Left to cherish his memory are his aunt, Josephine Haslin Hazlinski; as well as his numerous cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Butch’s viewing which will be held on Wednesday, June 05, 2024, from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Saint Joseph Marello Parish, 237 William Street, Pittston, with his Mass of Christian Burial to commence at 9:30 AM. The Reverend Father Louis A. Grippe, Pastor Emeritus of Most Precious Blood Church, Hazleton, will be the celebrant.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cemetery, Cedar Street, Exeter.
