Evie M. Stefanides, 61, a resident of Forty Fort, passed into eternal life, surrounded by her beloved family, early Friday morning, May 24, 2024, in the comfort of her home.
Her loving husband is Robert R. “Rob” Stefanides. Rob and Evie were looking forward to celebrating their 32nd wedding anniversary on July 11th.
Born on August 31, 1962, in Philadelphia, Evie was one of six children and the only daughter born to Yvonne Zaidan Ackourey, Forty Fort, and the late Richard C. “Dick” Ackourey Sr.
Raised in Forty Fort, Evie was a graduate of Wyoming Valley West High School, Class of 1980.
Devoted to her family, Evie’s favorite and proudest role in life was being a wife and mother, and she was the most gracious and loving stay-at-home Mom to her girls. Beside her role as wife and mother, she loved serving as the “unofficial manager” of her daughter’s business, Alle’s Chocolate Shoppe, Forty Fort, where she enjoyed meeting new customers and helping design orders for customers’ special events, which she always did to absolute perfection.
A faithful Catholic, Evie had a special devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, and was a longtime member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville.
Evie was the embodiment of a “bright light” as she lit up every room she walked in to. No matter the challenges she faced, her constant motto was “Bring it on”! Always putting others before herself, whether it be in times of happiness or despair, one could count on Evie to be there to lend a helping hand or offer her wise and fair advice. Evie was, at her core, a motherly figure who so many looked up to.
Those who knew Evie knew the great love and admiration she had for her loved ones, most especially her daughters. When it came to her girls, whether it be a lunch date, getting their nails done, or setting out on a shopping excursion, Evie cherished every moment she shared with them.
Evie had many enjoyments in life, most especially spending time on the waters of Harveys Lake on the family pontoon boat, “Making Memories”; annual vacations with her family in Ocean City, New Jersey, during the 4th of July holiday; and enjoying her favorite Lebanese dishes with her family. Evie was also a passionate fan of Villanova’s basketball team and she will certainly continue rooting them on from Heaven.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Rob, and their two daughters, Kristian Loomis and her husband, Tyler, Dallas; and Alexandra “Alle” Staskiel and her husband, David, Dallas; her mother, Yvonne Ackourey, Forty Fort; her five brothers, Richard Ackourey Jr. (Marta), Richboro; Joseph Ackourey (Cheri), Dallas; Daniel Ackourey (Margie), Dallas; John Ackourey (Christina), West Pittston; and Peter Ackourey (Jen), Mountain Top; her nieces, nephews, aunts, cousins, and many dear friends; and her grand-dog, Grady.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Evie’s viewing which will be held on Saturday, June 01, 2024, from 8:00 to 10:00 AM at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with her Mass of Christian Burial to commence at 10:00 AM. The family kindly suggests that those attending the services wear bright, cheerful colors to honor Evie’s bright personality.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
