Emily Yurchak Williams, 78, a resident of Wilkes-Barre, fell asleep in the Lord on Friday afternoon, May 01, 2026, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born on November 14, 1947, in Kingston, Emily was the daughter of the late John Yurchak and Mary Gorda Havrilla Yurchak.
Raised in Swoyersville, Emily was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1965, and Empire Beauty School, Wilkes-Barre, Class of 1966.
Prior to her retirement, Emily was employed as a seamstress by the former Ann Will Garment, Kingston.
Emily possessed strong faith in her Lord and Saviour. She was a past member of Saint Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Swoyersville, and in more recent years, enjoyed the worship services at Harvest Church, Trucksville.
Emily found joy in the simple pleasures of life like playing pinocle with her daughter and sister or Scrabble with her daughter; going out for dinner or to a drive-in movie; and cuddling up with her cat, Ralphie, who joined Emily in Heaven on Monday, May 4th. Above all, her greatest enjoyment in life was spending precious moments with her loved ones.
In addition to her parents, John and Mary Yurchak, Emily was preceded in death by her brother, Andrew Havrilla Jr.; and her sister, Mary Havrilla Kopin.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Christine M. Horstmann, Wilkes-Barre; her nieces, Emily Kopin and Christine Havrilla Inga; her nephews, Andrew Havrilla and Thomas Havrilla; as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews.
Private funeral services were celebrated by Pastor Ray Petts, Lead Pastor of Harvest Church, Trucksville, followed by burial in Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Cemetery, Dallas.
Emily’s family entrusted her funeral arrangements to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
