Elizabeth Charlotte “Lilo” Kemmerer, 83, a longtime resident of Mountaintop, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, July 18, 2014, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a brief illness.

Her beloved husband was the late Harry A. Kemmerer, who passed away on December 03, 1997. Together, Harry and Lilo shared 50 years of marriage.

Born on May 20, 1931, in Augsburg, Germany, Lilo was the daughter of the late Hans and Matilda Vogg.

Following World War II, Harry was serving in the United States Army, and was stationed in Germany, where he met and fell in love with Lilo. Once he returned to the United States, he sent for Lilo and they began their wonderful life together, eventually having five children and later being blessed with eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Lilo was instrumental in helping her husband establish their family business, Kemmerer Masonry, Ashley. Lilo was extremely proud to see her two sons, Harry and Karl, continue to follow in their father’s footsteps and successfully operate the family business to this day.

Throughout her life, Lilo was a devoted homemaker who tended to the daily needs of her family.

Lilo will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Though her presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family. 

In addition to her parents, Hans and Matilda Vogg, and her husband, Harry, Lilo was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert Vogg.

Lilo is survived by her children, Harry Kemmerer, Mountaintop; Karl Kemmerer, Mountaintop; Rita Glazenski, Wilkes-Barre; Patricia Kemmerer, Mountaintop; and Elizabeth Baranousky, Mountaintop; her eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Rita Vogg, Germany; her sister-in-law, Helga Vogg, Germany; and her nieces and nephews.

A private Funeral Mass was celebrated in Saint Jude’s Roman Catholic Church, Mountaintop.

Funeral Arrangements for the Kemmerer Family were entrusted to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
