Eleanor T. Wojnarski, 87, a lifelong resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, January 07, 2013, at Commonwealth Hospice, Inpatient Unit, Saint Luke’s Villa, Wilkes-Barre, following a brief illness.
Her beloved husband was the late Chester F. Wojnarski, who passed away on November 01, 1962.
Born on June 05, 1925 in Swoyersville, Eleanor was one of eight children born to the late Peter and Frances (Romanowski) Stanishefski.
Prior to her retirement, Eleanor was employed as a seamstress for various garment manufacturers throughout the Wyoming Valley and held membership with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union.
Eleanor was a faithful Catholic and lifelong member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville.
Following the consolidation of her church this past June, Eleanor became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, also of Swoyersville, where she attended daily mass.
Eleanor enjoyed many things in life, especially traveling to visit her sister, Helen, in Connecticut, watching the polka’s on Saturday evenings, backyard barbecue’s with family and taking care of her home.
Family was the center of Eleanor’s life and she treasured each moment she had with her loved ones. Her grandsons always held a special place in her heart and they both meant the world to her.
Eleanor will forever be remembered as a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her presence will be greatly missed but her beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
In addition to her parents, Peter and Frances Stanishefski and her husband, Chester, Eleanor was also preceded in death by her brothers, Felix, Stanley, Chester and Walter Stanishefski; her sister, Tessie Lecosky.
Eleanor is survived by her son, David Wojnarski, of Swoyersville; her daughter, Valerie Stefansky, of Wilkes-Barre; her grandchildren, Joseph and Adam Stefansky; her sisters, Helen Saran, of Sandy Hook, Connecticut and Frances Kepich, of Exeter; several generations of nieces and nephews.
The Family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff at Commonwealth Hospice at Saint Luke’s Villa for the gentle and compassionate care they bestowed upon Eleanor and her family.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 10:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and Friends are invited to call on Thursday, January 10, 2013, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
A Christian Wake Service will be conducted on Thursday evening at 7:30 PM, with Deacon George Mochin, Jr., officiating. The recitation of the Rosary will immediately follow the wake service.
