Eleanor Margaret Cheskiewicz, 92, a lifelong resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Sunday morning, June 10, 2018, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Her beloved husband of 40 years was the late Joseph P. Cheskiewicz, who passed away on September 21, 1989.
Born on November 02, 1925, in Swoyersville, Eleanor was the daughter of the late William Sincavage and Helen P. (Wyckoskas) Sincavage Dennis, and was the step-daughter of the late Theodore Dennis.
Eleanor attended the former Swoyersville High School.
A dedicated homemaker most of her life, Eleanor lovingly tended to the daily needs of her home and family. In her early years, she was employed by the former United Pants Factory, Swoyersville.
Eleanor was a faithful Catholic, and a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, holding membership with the parish’s Confraternity of Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union and the Swoyersville Senior Citizens.
Eleanor enjoyed many things throughout her life, most especially bowling and going on monthly trips to Atlantic City with the Swoyersville Seniors; taking trips to Las Vegas; going on fishing excursions with her late husband; playing bingo and the daily lottery; reading and working crossword puzzles; and cooking and baking for her beloved family. She was also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and their former player, # 25, Cody Asche.
The matriarch of her family, Eleanor was happiest when her home was filled with those who meant the most to her, her beloved children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family. Her door was always open and her home was the place where all would gather for holidays, birthdays, and special family events. Although her presence will be deeply missed, she will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
In addition to her parents, William Sincavage and Helen Sincavage Dennis; her step-father, Theodore Dennis; and her husband, Joseph, Eleanor was preceded in death by her brothers, Leonard Dennis and Vincent T. Dennis, past Mayor of Swoyersville.
Eleanor is survived by her three children, Joseph W. Cheskiewicz, Swoyersville; Karen Allwein and her husband, Robert, Bethlehem; and Carol Miller and her husband, James, Reading; her sister, Dolores Ann Fetchko, Ashley; her four grandchildren, Michele McCann and her husband, Jeffrey; Lisa Allwein-Deihl and her husband, Ken; Danielle Miller; and Allison Miller; her three great-grandchildren, Reese McCann, Reilly McCann, and Mason Deihl; as well as generations of nieces and nephews.
