Edward R. Dolecki, 90, a resident of Forty Fort, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon, March 17, 2013, at his home.

His beloved wife was the late Josephine (Stesney) Dolecki, who passed away on March 20, 1996. Together, Edward and Josephine shared 49 years of marriage.

Born on March 08, 1923, in Edwardsville, Edward was the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Dubiel) Dolecki.

Raised in Edwardsville, Edward was a graduate of the former Edwardsville High School. Following high school, he went on to further his education at the former Wilkes-Barre Business College.

A United States Army Veteran, Edward honorably served his country for over three years during World War II. He was commissioned to serve as a First Lieutenant on the staff of General McArthur in the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Edward was decorated with the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, the Distinguished Unit Citation, the Philippine Liberation Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged from active service on February 24, 1946.

During his time in the military, Edward continued to further his education at Louisiana State University.

For many years, Edward was employed by Sordoni Construction Company, Swoyersville, where he installed and operated data processing equipment. Later, he was transferred to Commonwealth Telephone Company, where he installed and developed their first computer operation, eventually retiring from there.

Edward was a faithful Catholic and longtime member of the former Saint Mary of Czestochowa Church, Swoyersville, where he served as a Lector and Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist. Upon the closing of his church, he became a member of Saint Barbara’s Parish, Exeter.

An avid golfer, Edward was a member of the Wyoming Valley Country Club, Hanover Township.

In addition to his parents, Andrew and Mary Dolecki, and his wife, Josephine, Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Dolecki and his sister, Florence Dolecki.

Edward is survived by his son, Edward P. Dolecki and his wife Ann, of Cinnaminson, New Jersey; his daughter, Denise Elder and her husband Andy, of Norwich, New York; his grandchildren, Edward P. Dolecki, Jr., Annie Manfra, Jennifer Elder and Stephanie Elder; his sister, Helen Krosofski, of Swoyersville; his dear friend, June Quinnan.

Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at 9:30 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 AM in Saint Barbara’s Parish, Saint Cecelia’s Church, 1700 Wyoming Avenue, Exeter, with the Very Reverend Phillip Massetti, O.S.J., his Pastor, officiating.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton.
