Edward John Mizenko Sr., 73, a resident of Forty Fort, entered into eternal life on Monday morning, July 27, 2020, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, following a brief illness.
His loving wife is Patrice M. (Williams) Mizenko. Ed and Patrice were blessed to share 11 beautiful years together.
Born on March 25, 1947, in Kingston, Edward was one of three sons born to the late Edward and Margaret (Sumpolec) Mizenko.
Raised in Swoyersville, Ed was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1965.
Ed was employed for over 25 years by the Meier Supply Company, Wilkes-Barre, retiring from there. Prior to that, he was employed for over 20 years by Power Engineering Corporation.
After retiring, Ed was employed part-time as a parking attendant for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport and the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. He also greatly enjoyed serving as a crossing guard for the Borough of Swoyersville on the “back road”.
A faithful Catholic, Ed was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. He had a devotion to the Blessed Mother, routinely bringing flowers to lay before her statue in church.
A man of simplicity and humility, Ed always had a smile on his face, and was quite the comedian. He possessed a true love for his family and friends, always putting their needs before his own. He enjoyed making handmade cards for his loved ones, and being his family’s honorary Santa Claus – a tradition he truly loved. He was also an avid golfer, a coin and stamp collector, and a model train enthusiast. He lived his life to the fullest and, in doing so, made the world a more beautiful place.
In addition to his parents, Edward and Margaret Mizenko, Ed was preceded in death by his son, Christopher Thomas Mizenko; his brothers, Richard and Gerald Mizenko; and his nieces, Rikki Ann, Kelly, and Melanie Mizenko.
In addition to his wife, Patrice, Ed is survived by his four children, Joyce Romanowski and her husband, William, Swoyersville; Tara Bigger and her husband, John, Luzerne; Edward J. Mizenko Jr. and his wife, Brittany, Gettysburg; and Kaitlynn Lantz and her husband, Douglas, Greenfield, Indiana; his eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Imani Romanowski; Brookelynn and Hunter Bigger; Bailey Frazier and her husband, Shawn, and their children, Tyler and Colton; Liam and Christopher Mizenko; and Bethany Lantz; his aunt, Dolores Zaremba, Nutley, New Jersey; his sisters-in-law, Gloria Mizenko and Susan Mizenko; as well as his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
