Edward J. Kerrick, 94, a resident of Swoyersville, passed peacefully into eternal life, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday evening, September 30, 2021, in the comfort of his home.
His beloved wife was the late Eleanor R. (Jugus) Kerrick. Edward and Eleanor were blessed to have five children together and shared nearly 63 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on September 07, 1927, in Edwardsville, Edward was the son of the late John P. and Susan (Jorda) Kerrick.
Edward was a graduate of the former Edwardsville High School, Class of 1946. He went on to further his education as a machinist and tool and die maker while he and his wife resided in New Jersey during the early years of their marriage.
Prior to his retirement, Edward was employed for over 30 years as a tool and die maker for Eberhard Faber, formerly of Mountaintop.
Edward had great faith and trust in God as well as a strong devotion to Saint Jude, and was a devout member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Parish, Luzerne. Socially, he was a member of the former Ruinita Hall Italian Club, Swoyersville, where he enjoyed countless games of cards.
Strong in both mind and body, Edward was proud of his Ukrainian heritage and was even prouder of his family. Family was always the cornerstone of his life, and he will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Although his presence will be deeply missed, there is much joy in knowing he is finally reunited in heaven with his beloved wife, Eleanor, and all his family and friends who had gone before him.
In addition to his parents, John and Susan Kerrick, and his wife, Eleanor, Edward was preceded in death by his infant son, Edward J. Kerrick Jr.; his granddaughter, Lisa Korey; his sister, Helen Wanyo; his niece, Beatrice Wanyo Stone; and his nephew, Richard Wanyo.
Edward is survived by his children, Patricia Falkowski and her husband, Norbert, Wilkes-Barre; Roseanne Gallagher and her husband, James, Dallas; John “Larry” Kerrick and Janine, Dallas; and Judy Powell and her husband, Rick, Swoyersville; his grandchildren, Charles Makarewicz, Jonathan Makarewicz, Krysta Kerrick, Sean Kerrick, Gina Kerrick, Gabrielle Kerrick, Jennifer Powell, and Stephanie Powell; his great-grandchildren, Madison and Jackson Korey; and Jayden and Ella Rose Powell; as well as his many nieces and nephews.
The Kerrick Family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of Edward’s caregivers throughout the years, most especially Jim Alaimo and Jill Cunningham who both held a special place in his heart.
