Edward H. Antos Jr., 71, a resident of Shavertown, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones, on Monday morning, August 20, 2018, at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Born on January 20, 1947 in Kingston, Edward was one of three children born to the late Edward H. Antos Sr. and Helen (Ference) Antos. Raised in Swoyersville, Ed was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1964. Ed honorably served his country for six years as an Army Reservist with the 109th Field Artillery Battalion, Kingston.
Prior to his retirement, Ed was employed for over 30 years as a service technician for Bell Telephone/Verizon, Wilkes-Barre and Scranton.
A man of many enjoyments, Ed especially enjoyed his “Wednesday Breakfast Buddies”, his “Thursday Night Crew”, and watching MSNBC. Ed was a longtime member of the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville. Above all, his greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his beloved family. He and his wife Betty celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary August 3rd, 2018.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edward H.Sr. and Helen Antos, his brother, John J. Antos; his sister, Catherine L. Antos; and his cousin, William Antos.
In addition to his wife, Betty, Ed is survived by his daughters, Alison Pisano and her husband, Mark, Lehman Township; and Amy Thomas and her husband, Jason, Dallas; his four grandchildren, Travis Pisano, Madalyn Thomas, Benjamin Thomas, and Jamie Lynne Thomas; his beautiful niece, Holly Antos Anderson; his wonderful great-niece, Emily Young; his many other nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, his dog, Remmie.
A private family funeral will be held on Friday with a Blessing Service officiated by the Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, Pastor of Saint Andre Bessette Roman Catholic Parish, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Huntsville Cemetery, Shavertown.
At Ed’s request, there will be no public calling hours, however, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
