Edward C. “Eddie” Smith, 60, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away at his home on Sunday, June 11, 2017, surrounded by his loving family.
His beloved wife is Lisa A. (Pencavage) Smith. Together, Eddie and Lisa celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on November 09, 2016.
Born on September 12, 1956, in Newark, New Jersey, Eddie was one of two children born to the late Edward and Rita (Howard) Smith.
Raised in New Jersey, Eddie was a graduate of Roselle Catholic High School, Roselle, New Jersey, Class of 1974. He then went on to further his education at Kings College, Wilkes-Barre, where in 1978, he attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Communications and Marketing. During his years at Kings College he managed its radio station, WRKC.
Eddie began his career with the Times Leader working in their Advertising Department for many years. He then became employed by the former Ertley Motorworld working there as a business manager. Most recently, he was employed as a financial planner and insurance agent for AIG Direct.
Eddie was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville, and was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion at the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville.
An avid sports enthusiast, Eddie was a diehard fan of the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys. He was also an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed fishing. In his earlier years, he hosted many deep sea fishing excursions for his family and friends.
Eddie loved traveling with his wife and son, and he relished in all of his son’s accomplishments. He was always there for his son, and he loved to support his son during all his sporting events.
In addition to his wife, Lisa, Eddie is survived by his pride and joy, his son, Connor, at home; his sister, Mary Ann Alick, Allentown; as well as his brothers-in-law, his sisters-in-law, and his nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses, and staff at the Henry Cancer Center at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township. They wish to especially thank Eddie’s nurses, Dave and Megan, from the Henry Cancer Institute, for their compassionate and attentive care.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Visitation which will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017, from 1:00 to 4:00 PM at the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
