Dorothy “Dot” Kavinski, 73, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into eternal life, surrounded by her loved ones, on Sunday evening, May 05, 2024, in the comfort of her home.
Born on July 15, 1950, in Wilkes-Barre, Dorothy was one of eight children born to the late Thomas Kavinski and Helen Trabish Kavinski.
Raised in Passaic, New Jersey, Dot was a graduate of Passaic High School, Class of 1968.
Residing in California for some years, Dot eventually returned to the Wyoming Valley, settling in Swoyersville. Although she was a devoted homemaker most of her life, Dot also worked for Fortune Fabrics, Swoyersville, and as a manager of Rusty’s Place, Swoyersville.
Dot was a devout member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville. Additionally, she was a social member of the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville.
Selfless, giving, and, above all, loving, Dot truly had a heart of gold. Her family was always her first priority and the love and devotion she had for her loved ones was unbreakable. Not only was she loved by her family, she was equally loved by her friends, and regardless if you were family, friend, or stranger, she would go out of her way for you, even so far as to give you the shirt off her back or the last penny she had.
In addition to her parents, Thomas and Helen Kavinski, Dot was preceded in death by the love of her life, Roman “Bucky” Bakalec; and her five brothers, Gerald T. Kavinski, Thomas “Tim” Kavinski, Robert Kavinski, Ronald Kavinski, and David Kavinski.
Left to cherish Dot’s memory are her loving sons, Carl and David; her beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Cody, Kayla, and T.J.; her adoring great-grandchildren, Scarlet, Logan, Briella, Taylor, Madison, Audriana, Aedan, and Declan; her devoted sisters, Diane Lugo and her husband, John; and Patricia Kavinski and her companion, Trit; her cherished nieces and nephews, Lisa; Jenn and husband, Shawn; Amanda, whom she raised as her own; Brian and wife, Peggy; and Joey and wife, Lillianah; as well as her dear great-nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 10:00 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Father John J. Chmil, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
Family and friends are invited to attend Dot’s viewing which will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.
