Dorothy Bednar Grycko, 87, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away peacefully early Sunday morning, September 29, 2013, at the Hampton House, Wilkes-Barre, where she was recently a guest.
Her loving husband is Walter Grycko. Together, Walter and Dorothy shared 36 beautiful years of marriage.
Born on March 18, 1926, in Swoyersville, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Oravic) Bednar.
Raised in Swoyersville, Dorothy was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1943.
A homemaker most of her life, Dorothy worked for some time as an inspector for Nabisco Foods, Hanover Township.
A faithful Catholic, Dorothy was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Parish, Swoyersville.
In addition to her parents, Peter and Mary Bednar, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Jackie Bednar.
In addition to her husband, Walter, Dorothy is survived by her step-daughter, Gloria Bilder and her husband Ed, of Harvey’s Lake; her step-son, Walter Stephen Grycko and his wife Sandy, of Sunnyvale, California; her step-grandchildren, Adam Bilder, of Harvey’s Lake; Stacey and Ashley Grycko, of Indiana, Pennsylvania; her sisters, Helen Wilski, of York and Margie Matuse, of New Jersey; numerous nieces and nephews.
The Grycko Family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff at the Hampton House for their loving and compassionate care toward Dorothy and her family during her stay there.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Wednesday, October 02, 2013, at 10:00 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, her Pastor, officiating.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
