Dorothy A. Stanishefski, 84, a resident of the Daniel J. Flood Tower, Kingston, and formerly of Owen Street, Swoyersville, passed into eternal life on Saturday, October 13, 2018, at the Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre, where she was a guest for a short time.
Her beloved husband was the late Chester B. Stanishefski, who passed away on September 30, 2009. Together, Chet and Dorothy shared 53 wonderful years of marriage.
Born on May 10, 1934, in Swoyersville, Dorothy was one of nine children born to the late Peter and Anna (Sholtis) Yadrnak.
Prior to moving to Kingston, Dorothy was a lifelong resident of Swoyersville and was a graduate of the former Swoyersville High School, Class of 1952.
For many years, Dorothy was employed as a bookkeeper in the construction industry. She then went on to work for Catherine’s Dress Shop, Kingston, from where she retired.
Dorothy was a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
In addition to her parents, Peter and Anna Yadrnak, and her husband, Chester, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brothers, Peter, Andrew, Stephen, Daniel, Joseph, and John Yadrnak; and her sisters, Mary Graci and Anna Zdancewicz.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Robert Stanishefski, Burbank, California; her sisters-in-law, Mary Yadrnak and Frances (Stanishefski) Kepich; and generations of nieces and nephews.
In accordance with Dorothy’s wishes, a private family Blessing Service will be celebrated by the Reverend Joseph J. Pisaneschi, pastor of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Swoyersville.
There will be no public calling hours.
