Doris A. Eslinger, age 95, died on Friday, January 19, 2024, in Allentown.
Born on September 26, 1928, in Plains, Doris was the daughter of the late Martin Bogusko and Bertha (Sobelewski) Bogusko.
Raised in Plains, Doris was a graduate of the former Plains Memorial High School, and then received her Registered Nurse diploma from the former St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Scranton.
Doris was the loving wife of the late Dr. Lloyd Eslinger, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. She worked at several hospitals in Philadelphia and Allentown while Lloyd completed his medical school training. Together they raised 6 children in Northampton where Lloyd had a family medical practice, with Doris working alongside her husband in the latter years of his practice, until his retirement in 1990.
Doris was proud of her Polish heritage, and kept the tradition alive by cooking Polish meals, especially at Christmas and Easter for extended family and friends. She was a volunteer for Meals-On-Wheels, and was a member of the Allentown Osteopathic Medical Center Auxiliary.
Retirement took them to their cabin on Lake Jamie in the Poconos, where they became part of a wonderful circle of friends at St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church, known as the Bernie Bunch.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Doris was preceded in death by her son Gary and his life partner, John Dombrowski; along with her sister, Josephine, and brothers, Bernard, Edward, Aloysius, Thomas, and Frank.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Doris is survived by her sons, Richard and wife, Karen; Robert and wife, Lindell; Thomas and wife, Florence; and Daniel and wife, Jodi; her daughter Donna and husband, William Barry Harris; as well as 9 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Doris was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church in Orefield. A Memorial Funeral Mass and burial will be announced at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
