Don Duane Evan, 69, a resident of Swoyersville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, April 30, 2017, at his home.
His loving wife is Betty (Williams) Kocher Evan. Don and Betty would have celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on October 9th.
Born on March 21, 1948, in Meshoppen, Don was the son of the late Stephen and Mildred (Kocher) Evan.
Don was a graduate of Lake Lehman High School.
A United States Air Force veteran, Don honorably served his country for nearly four years during the Vietnam War. Upon his honorable discharge on January 10, 1972, he attained rank of Staff Sergeant.
Prior to his retirement, Don was employed as a supervisor for Offset Paperback Manufacturers Inc., Dallas. Following his retirement, he went on to work part-time for the Dallas Area Municipal Authority.
A man of faith, Don was a member of Stella Presbyterian Church, Forty Fort.
Don was a member of the Graphic Communications International Union, Wilkes-Barre Local 137-C, Shavertown, and also held membership with the American Legion, Andrew Lawrence Post 644, Swoyersville.
In addition to his parents, Stephen and Mildred Evan, Don was preceded in death by his brothers, Keith and Jerry Evan; and his sisters, Sandra Junker and Judy Maat.
In addition to his loving wife, Betty, Don is survived by his step-daughter, Kim-Rae Novroski and her husband, Dr. Henry C. Novroski D.O., Shavertown; his step-son, Tracey Kocher, Atlanta, Georgia; his step-grandchildren, Dr. Alyssa Cuchanski and her husband, Dr. Mathieu Cuchanski, Danville; and Eric Novroski, Shavertown; his brother, Barry Evan and his wife, Maria, Binghamton, New York; as well as his nieces, nephews, and friends.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend Don’s Funeral Service which will be celebrated on Friday, May 05, 2017, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Denison Cemetery, Denison Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend William Lukesh, pastor of Stella Presbyterian Church, officiating.
At the conclusion of the funeral service, Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Air Force.
Interment will follow in the Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville.
In keeping with Don’s wishes, the viewing will be held privately for his immediate family.
Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort.
