Dolores Jean Warick Cebrick, a resident of Swoyersville, fell asleep in the Lord on Monday morning, November 01, 2021, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Dolores married the love of her life, Andrew Henry Cebrick, on November 05, 1955. He fell asleep in the Lord on June 26, 2021. They would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary this Friday, November 5th.
Born on September 18, 1928, in the Parsons section of Wilkes-Barre, Dolores was one of two daughters born to the late Joseph and Mary (Salamon) Warick.
Dolores graduated from Saint Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Parochial School, and went on to attend the former James M. Coughlin High School, both located in Wilkes-Barre
Prior to her retirement, Dolores was employed in the local garment industry working for the former George Ann Fashions, Swoyersville. She held membership with the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU).
A devout Catholic, Dolores spent her early years as a parishioner of Saint Mary the Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, Wilkes-Barre, the church in which her grandfather, Andrew Salamon, helped build, and where she was united in marriage to her beloved husband, Andrew Henry. Following their marriage, Dolores became a member of Saint Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Swoyersville, where, for many years, she was an active member of its Altar and Rosary Society. She took pride in supporting her church in many ways, and, for decades, she, along with her children, cleaned the church. She also spent many hours volunteering for the pirohy project fundraiser for the Holy Days of Christmas and Easter, and most recently took pride in preparing the altar linens. Additionally, she was a member of the Greek Catholic Union, Lodge 443, District 5.
In her earlier years, Dolores was active in the Parent-Teacher Organizations at her children’s schools and also at the Byzantine Catholic Youth (BCY). During retirement, she and her husband spent many days fishing on the Susquehanna River with their grandchildren.
Eating together as a family with a home cooked meal and praying together as a family were of the highest priority to Dolores, and by example, she instilled these values in her children. As a mother and wife, she was always attentive to her family needs. She had a way of making the holidays special and taught her family the importance of continuing the beautiful Carpatho-Rusyn traditions, particularly, at Christmas and Easter. She will be remembered as a woman of deep faith, with a fun sense of humor. We trust that she is with our Lord and his Blessed Mother to whom she was deeply devoted.
Devoted to her husband and family, she will be sadly missed by her daughters, Andrea Horton and her husband, Jeffrey, Exeter; Dr. Joan Grossman and her husband, Lloyd, Swoyersville; and her son, Daniel Cebrick, Swoyersville. Dolores was lovingly known as “Grandma Dee” by her grandchildren, whom she selflessly helped raise from infancy, so her daughters could to return to work: Adam Horton, Swoyersville; Sara Campa and her husband, Mike, Mount Pocono; Jared, Caleb and Ava Grossman, all of Swoyersville; and her great-grandson, Benjamin Campa, Mount Pocono. She is also survived by generations of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joseph and Mary Warick, and her husband Andrew Henry Cebrick, Dolores was preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Madeline Warick Popson, who passed away in 1964.
