Dolores A. Sedlak, 90, formerly of West Wyoming, passed into eternal life early Sunday morning, October 22, 2023, at the Wesley Village Campus, Jenkins Township.
Her husband was the late Dr. Paul J. Sedlak, who passed away on June 14, 1987.
Born on June 03, 1933, in Kingston, Dolores was one of three children born to the late Frank Uter and Della Antinnes Uter.
Dolores was a graduate of Kingston High School, Class of 1950. Following high school, she went on to attend Nesbitt Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Kingston.
Dolores was working at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital when she met her future husband. Dolores eventually left the workforce to be a homemaker and, most importantly, a stay-at-home mom. As she raised her children, she was a strong influence when it came to their education, volunteering at the former Bishop O’Reilly High School, Kingston, and never missing any of her children’s sporting events. When her husband took ill, she lovingly cared for him for eight years. She also cared for her dad and her mother-in-law in their golden years.
A woman of great faith, Dolores was a longtime member of the former Holy Trinity Church, Swoyersville, and following the consolidation of her church, she became a member of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, Swoyersville.
For over 50 years, Dolores was a member of “The Informal’s” – a Michigan Rummy card club she belonged to with her dear friends.
Dolores enjoyed crocheting afghans for her loved ones, sewing, and in more recent years, drawing. One of her favorite pastimes was making Halloween costumes and holiday crafts with her grandchildren.
Dolores’s other enjoyments were cooking and baking; watching her favorite soap opera “Days of Our Lives”; playing Scrabble; and doing the daily crossword puzzle. She looked forward to visits with her family and get-togethers with her fellow nursing classmates from Nesbitt. She could be found on Saturday’s rooting for her all-time favorite football team, the Penn State Nittany Lions. Known for her many wonderful qualities, her family will especially remember her love of sweets, especially Blue Ribbon Ice Cream, as well as her love for all animals, especially her dogs and the neighborhood birds.
In addition to her parents and husband, Dolores was preceded in death by her son, David Sedlak, who passed away on January 10, 2022; her grandson, Gary Lukasiewicz, who passed away on May 19, 2012; and her sister, Dorothy Miller.
Left to cherish Dolores’s memory are her children, Jacqueline Walczyk and her husband, Dr. Michael, Portland, Oregon; Cheryl Lukasiewicz, Edwardsville, and Chet; Dr. Michael Sedlak and his wife, Diane, San Antonio, Texas; Maria Hinson and her husband, Matt, Chesapeake, Virginia; and Paul Sedlak Jr. and his wife, Judy, Kingston; her grandchildren, Ali Walczyk and her fiancé, Mark Ziman, North Bend, Washington; Michael Walczyk and his girlfriend, Nikki Kiga, Seattle, Washington; Jackson Sedlak and Wyatt Sedlak, both of San Antonio, Texas; Matthew Hinson and his wife, Onrry, Norfolk, Virginia; Samantha Maley and her husband, Mak, Chesapeake, Virginia; Abby Hinson, Charlottesville, Virginia; Vera Sedlak and her fiancé, Evan Petrini, Swoyersville; Nikolai Sedlak and his wife, Desirée, Hanover Township; and Kayla Zagropski and her husband, Blayze, Kingston; her great-grandchildren, Justin Hinson, Owen Hinson, and McCullen Maley; her brother, John Uter, Forty Fort; as well as her numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral which will be conducted on Monday, November 06, 2023, at 10:00 AM from the Wroblewski Funeral Home, Inc., 1442 Wyoming Avenue, Forty Fort, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 AM in Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville, with the Reverend Father John J.
