David “Davey” Francis Nenichka, 57, a resident of Swoyersville, passed into Eternal Life unexpectedly on Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on May 27, 1962, at Torrejón Air Force Base, Madrid, Spain, David was the only son and one of three children born to the late Master Sergeant George David Nenichka, U.S. Air Force, Retired, and Romaine (Hudanick) Nenichka.
David was a member of the 1980 graduating class of Wyoming Valley West High School, Plymouth.
Following his formal education, David proudly served our country with the United States Marine Corps from 1983 until the time of his honorable discharge from duties in October 1989, earning the rank of Lance Corporal. For his duties to his country, he was awarded the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge.
David's service to country and neighbor did not cease after his military career, as he was employed with the United States Postal Service as a mail carrier for the White Haven Post Office for many years.
In his spare time, David enjoyed the outdoors. In his youth, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. David enjoyed the fishing trips he and his late father would take to Florida. He could often be seen rooting for Penn State football, and truly loved the Atlantic City, NJ beach trips he would make with his mother, sisters, niece and nephews.
Most of all, David loved spending time with his family. He is remembered by those who knew and loved him as having a gentle soul whose love for family was unconditional. Throughout his lengthy years of illness and physical pain, he always remained hopeful. He always held his family’s hearts “more tenderly than his own”, and for that, we as a family, have been truly blessed.
As quoted in the obituary of his father, who passed on March 08, 2017, “Our family chain is broken and nothing seems the same, but as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again”.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories shared with David are his beloved sisters, Patricia A. Brown and her husband, Gary, Mountain Top; and Donna Savoca, Swoyersville and her companion, Ronald Kubicki; his adoring nieces and nephews, Brooke Casey and her husband, Joseph; Gary Jay Brown II and his wife, Kayla; and Vinny Savoca; his great-nephews, Caleb Casey, Liam Casey and Chase Brown; and his faithful companion, his dog, Dexter Farley.
Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to attend David’s viewing which will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019, from 9:00 to 10:30 AM, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 116 Hughes Street, Swoyersville.
